Places to Visit

We hope to give you some ideas when planning your extraordinary and unforgettable experience in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean with their breathtaking natural beauty, exciting and inspirational activities and luxurious food and accommodation.

May Hill View has an abundance of leaflets and guides to help you choose where to go and what to do. There are many lovely walks - both for the beginner and the experienced and particularly delightful when the Wild Daffodils and Bluebells are in bloom.

Why not walk to the top of May Hill for amazing panoramic views? Cycling in the Forest of Dean or canoeing down the River Wye for the adventurous. Guided visits to Hereford Cathedral with The Mappa Mundi, Chained Library and The Magna Carta or a take a trip to Gloucester Cathedral for the Harry Potter followers and shopping at The Gloucester Quays!

Sample some traditional Herefordshire Cider and join a Cider Mill Tour at Westons Cider just a short drive away in the village of Much Marcle. Watch a flying display at the International Centre for Birds of Prey - again just a short drive from May Hill View.

Many guests visiting the Cheltenham Races, The Malvern Shows, Walking Festivals, Flavours of Herefordshire Food Festivals and Gorsley Flower Festival choose May Hill View for their accommodation…. and of course, we are close to various view points of the Severn Bore - one of Britain's truly spectacular natural phenomena.

Geocaching is a world-wide activity and there are many caches within easy reach of May Hill View in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, often at some of the most scenic and interesting places.  Visiting caches is a great way to learn about our area.  There are nearly 80 caches within 4 miles of The Speech House, often regarded as the centre of the Forest.  Within 10 miles of Monmouth there are over 200 caches up and down the Wye Valley.
